THE PLAN – THREE PRIMARY COMPONENTS
1) EMERGENCY STAFF SUPPORT
In communication with executive STOP staff, a most urgent condition for the organization at large is to maintain its capacity through the pandemic and not lose critical staff who have taken years to identify and train, etc. Finding fully trustworthy, loyal and dependable people in India is not easy. Strategically, we are safeguarding STOP’s core organizational capacity and having a strong organization on the other side of this pandemic. Engaged in the work, ready to meet new challenges. Right now there is work to do in the slums of Delhi, not to mention at the NGO strategic level, locally in Delhi, but also with the UN, etc. Being fundamentally secure and able to take a leadership role through the pandemic likely strengthens STOP on many levels.
Stop Global Movement has “adopted” four slum communities in Delhi. Supporting basic community interconnection and wellness is one of the best ways to “vaccinate” a community against traffickers, but also domestic violence. Central to the approach here is the organization seeking a pedagogical approach that deeply honors women.
2) EMERGENCY FOOD RATIONS
In consultation with the executive staff in India, a proposal has emerged for an eight month program which would have two four month funding components, ROUND ONE and ROUND TWO. Currently STOP is delivering 150 survival dry rations packets to families of 5 to 6, and are having to turn people away. In the slum communities there are easily 2000 families that could use the help. In consideration of real capacity, staff safety, etc we have decided to increase funding to 175 packets for ROUND ONE, and would like to maintain that level into 2021.
3) SANITATION
A component to the emergency support plan, is to hire individuals responsible for cleaning their particular section of a given slum area, which supports community health and suppresses additional disease issues like rats and even bubonic plague — which well could be an issue in the slums of Delhi, India in 2020.
This one project drive is finite, high leverage, and currently, urgent. Note that working with a primary foundation funding source we have already managed to get the funds for ROUND ONE wired to India. Part of our pitch is that we would then ask our USA community to fund ROUND TWO.
